Labertouche Community Recovery

Welcome to the Labertouche Community Web Site.

This site has been developed as an initiative of the Labertouche Community Recovery Committee in order to facilitate communications to and among members of the Labertouche community in order to assist in the ongoing recovery after the bushfires of 7th February 2009.

Community Hub

The Labertouche Community Recovery Committee has developed a Community Precinct Masterplan and made application for funds for the purchase of 5 acres of land adjacent to the Labertouche Hall Precenct.

After purchase the land will be surrendered to DSE to be made a crown allotment for public use.

The masterplan for the hub includes:
Hall improvements,
Septic relocation,
Play Ground,
Better car parking,
Men's Shed,
Public Toilets,
Landscaping,
and many other items.

On Wednesday the 23rd of June 2010, the Baw Baw Shire Council unanimously voted to support the purchase of the land subject to ministerial support and planning approvals.

Rebuilding Baw Baw Shire

The Victorian Bushfire Reconstruction and Recovery Authority has information on the status of the recovery situation for the communities of Drouin West, Jindivick, Longwarry and Labertouche here; Rebuilding Baw Baw.

If you are a visitor to this site, and you are wondering where or what is Labertouche.  Labertouche is a locality about 100 km's east of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia.  Labertouche is mostly farmland abutting the Bunyip State Park and Bunyip State Forest to the North.  Click here, for a map.
